A successful pharmaceutical company is looking for a Research Scientist or Senior Scientist with expertise in antibody/protein biophysical characterisation to join its Antibody Humanisation and Engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a delivery-focused scientist who enjoys generating high-quality experimental data and wants to contribute to the future of AI/ML-driven antibody engineering and digital drug discovery. You’ll work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary team of wet-lab and computational scientists, helping to generate critical biophysical datasets that support the development of next-generation antibody optimisation technologies.
Key responsibilities:
- Generate and analyse biophysical data for antibody panels
- Assess molecule quality and purity prior to characterisation
- Evaluate properties including affinity, thermal stability, self-interaction and non-specific binding
- Collaborate closely with computational scientists to support AI/ML model development
- Present and communicate data across scientific teams
- Support development of new antibody characterisation methodologies
Ideal background:
- PhD or equivalent industry experience in antibody/protein biophysical characterisation
- Hands-on experience with techniques assessing affinity, stability and developability e.g. SPR, BLi, DSC, DSF, DLS, mass photometry etc.
- Strong organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Interest in computational antibody engineering or AI-guided optimisation would be advantageous
- Experience with structural visualisation tools such as PyMOL would be beneficial
This role is offered on an initial 12 month contract.
