Are you an enthusiastic scientist with a passion for microbial process development?
This is a great opportunity to join a collaborative R&D team working on innovative microbial expression and fermentation projects to support the generation of novel therapeutic proteins
The Role
As an Associate Scientist, you’ll support the development and optimisation of microbial processes to produce novel therapeutic proteins, i.e. antibodies, from lab to pilot scale (250 mL–200 L)
You’ll work on a range of experiments, analyse data, and contribute to continuous process improvement — helping to deliver high-quality microbial products.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, optimise, and troubleshoot microbial fermentation processes
- Operate bioreactors and pilot-scale systems e.g. AMBR 250
- Design and execute experiments, record and analyse data
- Present findings to colleagues and contribute to technical discussions
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure safe lab practices
About You
- BSc/BEng (or equivalent) in Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience with E. coli and microbial fermentation
- Familiar with bioreactors or fermenters and control software i.e. AMBR systems
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- A great communicator who enjoys teamwork and learning new techniques
This role is offered on a 12 month contract with potential for extension.
