- Develop and implement new or enhanced automation rules, REXX execs, and system procedures.
- Collaborate with client sysprog and operations teams to align automation with operational and business requirements.
- Perform testing, validation, and optimization of automation rules to ensure reliability and performance.
- Support stabilization and post-migration troubleshooting.
- Deliver documentation, knowledge transfer, and operational support materials to the client’s internal teams.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Experience as a Mainframe Systems Programmer (z/OS).
- Proven hands-on experience with BMC AMI Ops Automation or similar mainframe automation products.
- Strong understanding of z/OS subsystems: JES2/JES3, VTAM, TCP/IP, CICS, IMS, DB2.
- REXX and CLIST scripting for automation execs.
- JCL and system operations workflows.
- Message automation, command automation, and event-driven automation concepts.
- Experience migrating automation rules from older platforms to BMC.
- Skilled in testing and validating automation rules in live or test z/OS environments.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience with BMC MainView / MainView Ops Monitor or BMC AMI Ops Monitor.
- Knowledge of IBM System Automation, CA OPS/MVS, or other legacy mainframe automation tools.
- Familiarity with RACF/ACF2 security integration in automation environments.
- Exposure to DevOps practices and mainframe modernization initiatives.
Deliverables:
