Main Purpose of Role
Responsible for ensuring the delivery of the safety engineering aspects of the facility. Ensure systems are designed against a clear statement of compliance with defined requirements, including demonstration that the design meets relevant HSE requirements. Guiding the development of engineering to the required scope and quality to support timely delivery of the project.
Responsibilities
- Review of Safety Engineering design for compliance against relevant engineering standards on behalf of the receiving Design Authority.
- Provide Subject Matter Expert advice for engineering to assist with problem solving as required.
- Provide Technical design guidance and review of safety design packages.
- Provide Technical design guidance and review integration of safety designs with other design packages.
- Ensure the developing safety case claims can be substantiated by designs within your area.
- Ensure that the design documentation covers the scope of operations required for the facility and is produced in accordance with corporate standards and that deliverables are complete and accurate.
- Ensure Design Specifications are clear and review Inspection & Testing Plans for accuracy to ensure validation of design intent.
- Provide on site advice regarding design change or defect rectification as required.
- Ensuring effective Quality Management Arrangements operate and deliver through compliance with our client's engineering processes.
- Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records maintained and configuration and quality controls applied.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Competences
- Safety Engineering within a complex project.
- Derivation of safety requirements and developing/guiding safety strategies.
- Verification of substantiation claims and safety case documentation.
- Change management within a nuclear regulated environment.
Due to the nature of the work carried out at our client's site, these roles are subject to specific nationality requirements and are only open to sole British citizens. Candidates who meet this criterion will also be required to undergo security clearance vetting.
