Role: IT Buyer
Location: Available on site 2 days per week (in Farnborough)
Duration: 6 Months
Pay Rate: £660 per day via Umbrella.
Key Responsibilities
- Source (including tendering) and procure requirements across IT hardware, software, telecoms, and professional services categories. This includes negotiating favourable terms, volume discounts, reviewing and agreeing T&Cs with Tier-1 IT vendors.
- Reviews contracts for conformance to organisation policy and discusses defects and delivery problems with suppliers and negotiates refunds and/or improved SLAs.
- Eliminating unnecessary expenditure through influential demand management and deliver savings through strong negotiations.
- Work with Finance to record and seek endorsement of savings delivered.
- Collaborate with IT, Enterprise Digital Services, Security, Data Protection and Legal teams to ensure alignment on procurement strategies and compliance with procurement policies, licensing agreements, and data protection regulations.
- Support budgeting and forecasting activities related to IT spend.
- Work closely with senior stakeholders, including the Group CIO, to understand demands and priorities, as well as presenting procurement strategies for endorsement.
Key Skills
- Demonstrates understanding of technology trends, market forces, cost trends, and supplier technology road maps
- Proven experience in an IT Procurement or Supply Chain role, procuring technologies and services for multiple geographies
- Experience negotiating and executing Data Processing Agreements, Information Security Schedules, End User Licence Agreements, Framework Agreements, Master Services Agreements and similar
- Experience commercially negotiating with Tier 1 IT vendors – examples include: Microsoft, Cisco, AWS, IBM, with demonstrable savings delivered back to the organisation
- Demonstrable stakeholder management and confidence in presenting/communicating with senior stakeholders
- Good understanding of IT products, services, and licensing models (e.g., SaaS, IaaS)
