Investment and Reporting Accountant
We are seeking an interim Investment and Reporting Accountant to support the Director of Finance during a busy period at The Leverhulme Trust, an independent charity established in 1925. The role is based close to Fleet Street in Central London, offering a full-time temporary contract of 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, lasting until the end of March 2027.
The position offers a competitive salary of up to £60,000 per annum, pro rata, depending on experience, and a mix of remote and on‑site working, subject to business requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Account for investments for The Leverhulme Trust and the Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust, including investment accounting and related disclosures.
- Collaborate with the Trust\’s custodian to automate the investment accounting process.
- Attend Investment Committee meetings and support the Director of Finance in preparing for and following up on actions arising from these meetings.
- Coordinate and obtain investment confirmations to support audit processes.
- Lead the production of statutory accounts and manage the Trustees Annual Report with the Director of Finance and the Assistant Director of Finance.
- Develop standard management reporting in Microsoft Business Central with the Assistant Director of Finance.
- Prepare financial papers for board meetings and support the Director of Finance on the new Charity SORP, Governance, Risk, IT, and HR matters.
- Maintain close working relationships with the Assistant Director of Finance, outsourced investment managers, and the custodian, responding to auditor queries.
Qualifications and Experience
- Qualified accountant (or part‑qualified, not required).
- Experience accounting for financial investments, either as preparer or auditor.
- Knowledge of charity accounting is desirable but not essential.
- Strong interest in financial and management accounting.
- Demonstrable ability to develop and improve processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Experience using Microsoft Business Central is desirable; proficiency with financial systems is essential.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and written skills.
- Ability to work flexibly and as part of a cohesive, team‑based organisation.
- Detail‑focused, well‑organised, able to manage own workload.
- IT literate and keen to understand and utilise systems.
