Our client is a precision engineering business specialising in high-quality composite machining work for demanding industries, including aerospace applications. They are now looking to recruit an experienced CNC Miller Setter Operator to join their growing manufacturing team. This opportunity would suit an experienced CNC Miller who is confident setting and operating CNC milling machines within a precision engineering environment. Candidates with some turning experience would also be welcomed.
Role overview
The successful candidate will be responsible for setting, operating and optimising CNC milling machines to produce precision-engineered components to tight tolerances. Working within a busy manufacturing environment, you will play an important role in ensuring production targets, quality standards and continuous improvement objectives are achieved. You will work with a range of machinery and controls including:
- HAAS
- DMG
- Doosan
- Mazak
- Fanuc
- Siemens
- Heidenhain
Key duties
- Setting and operating CNC milling machines efficiently and accurately
- Editing and adjusting programmes where required for production optimisation
- Producing components to tight tolerances and high-quality standards
- Working from engineering drawings, samples and sketches
- Carrying out first-off, stage and final inspections
- Completing relevant production and inspection paperwork
- Supporting lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Working closely with planning and production teams to improve manufacturing methods
- Maintaining machinery and ensuring excellent housekeeping standards
- Supporting and encouraging apprentices where required
- Following all health and safety procedures at all times
Skills and experience
- Previous CNC milling setting and operating experience
- Experience working within a precision engineering environment
- Knowledge of Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain or similar controls
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings
- Ability to work accurately to tight tolerances
- Positive and proactive approach to work
- Aerospace manufacturing experience would be advantageous
- Experience machining composite materials would be beneficial
