Job Description
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Plant General Manager to lead the Banbury site.
We’re looking for a site leader who will manage daily operations and develop the future strategy of the site to deliver excellent service, quality and customer satisfaction, whilst maintaining BRC, and ISO quality standards. You will need to identify the opportunity for leaner processes and be able to evolve an operationally excellent environment, whilst also developing, and engaging with, the team around you.
About the role
- Ensures a safety-first culture operates across the site and ensures that all company procedures and statutory requirements are fully adhered to.
- Provides guidance and feedback to help others strengthen specific knowledge/skill areas.
- Plans, develops and implements strategy for operational management to meet agreed organisational targets within budgets and timescales.
- Takes responsibility for clear, measurable, operational KPIs that will help to drive improvement in operational efficiency.
- Manages operational site P&L, having input into commercial decisions and balancing the needs for revenue and profit.
- Meets customer requirements through the production of timely, efficient and high-quality goods.
- Leads and develops operational and manufacturing teams to support machine efficiencies, quality objectives and customer requirements.
- Partners with key functions and people, identifying potential new opportunities for business and promoting a partnership approach with customers to ensure we maintain excellent levels of customer service at all times.
- Plans and organises all necessary training of colleagues within the team and individually to meet operational requirements and agreed personal development goals.
- Drives change at all levels ensuring understanding and commitment to new ideas, processes and systems of working.
- Project manages strategic developments throughout the site.
Skills & experience required
- Experience leading a team in a fast-paced lean manufacturing business, preferably packaging/corrugated.
- Demonstrated ability to encourage, motivate and challenge the team to be their best.
- Delivering effective change management programmes.
- Be commercially savvy and have previous experience working with P&L responsibility.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to produce and interpret data.
- Degree or equivalent experience in engineering, manufacturing or commerce.
- Continuous Improvement Techniques – Black Belt preferred.
- Passion for learning – keen to remain up to date and knowledgeable with industry and economic factors.
