Overview
TPA is a leading European supplier of temporary access solutions, specialising in portable roadways, walkways, ground protection, and temporary rapid rail access points.
The Senior Lead Driver reports to the Transport Manager and works alongside Portable Roadway Operatives to deliver, install, and recover equipment using lorry loader cranes (HIAB) fitted to our fleet of 44t rigid & drawbar vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise operatives in the execution of relevant plans and installations.
- Maintain regular liaison with customers, sales and back‑office teams to ensure correct billing, logistics and up‑to‑date customer requirements.
- Use technical experience to advise customers on best‑fit product choices based on site environment.
- Assist in training and assessment of new employees, signing off competencies.
- Address changes in requirements due to weather or customer demands.
- Identify and suggest optimum ways of working and support implementation of new methodologies.
- Champion health and safety for yourself and others at all times.
- Follow drivers’ hours, working time, and tachographs rules; keep proper records.
- Ensure your vehicle and trailer are not overloaded and comply with all CPC requirements.
- Report any defects or potential defects that could prevent safe operation of vehicles, trailers, and lifting equipment.
- Maintain periodic training to preserve Driver CPC qualification.
- Inform the Transport Manager of any driving convictions, endorsements or medical concerns that may impact driving.
- Adhere to company policies, procedures, and the Driver Code as outlined in the Driver Handbook.
- Be professional and helpful in all customer interactions, dressing in workwear and using correct PPE.
- Complete site inductions, risk assessments and follow RAMS documents.
- Plan and communicate workload to meet customer or company deadlines while complying with working time regulations.
- Load, transport, unload, install and recover equipment safely and securely.
- Maintain vehicles, trailers, and equipment daily and report incidents, accidents, or damage.
- Follow stock control procedures for movements, including obtaining signatures and site photographs.
Qualifications
- Trained and proficient in the use of truck‑mounted crane – HIAB or equivalent.
- Trained in crane‑mounted clamps.
- Strong knowledge of lifting RAMS.
- Computer literate; experienced with in‑house software and communication tools.
- Ability to train and assess fellow workers’ performance.
- Full UK driving licence with category C+E entitlement.
- Current digital tachograph driver card.
- Current driver CPC card.
- Flexible schedule – including early starts, late finishes, weekends, and frequent overnight stays sharing a cab with another operative.
- Customer‑focused mindset.
