Job Introduction
We are seeking a small tools service engineer to join our team.
This role involves the maintenance, servicing, and repair of a wide range of small tools and LLA to ensure they are safe, reliable and presented to a high standard.
The ideal candidate will be mechanically minded, safety conscious, and experienced in tool repair or maintenance.
However, we are open to individuals with strong transferable skills in mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic systems who are eager to learn and develop, we offer comprehensive training and ongoing development to help you build your career with us.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct repairs and routine maintenance on small tools, light plant, and portable equipment, in line with manufacturers specifications.
- Diagnose faults and preform corrective action in a timely manner.
- Conduct basic electrical checks, including PAT testing and fault finding.
- Ensure accurate service records are maintained.
- Assist in workshop organisation, ensuring all tools and equipment are safe and compliant.
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements, including PUWER and LOLER regulations.
- Work collaboratively with the team while managing tasks independently.
- Drive continuous improvement in service quality and equipment upkeep.
- What We’re Looking For
- Experience in servicing, maintenance or repair small tools, portable equipment, or similar machinery.
- Basic electrical knowledge, including fault diagnosis.
- Awareness of health and safety regulations
- Effective communication skills with the ability to maintain accurate documentation.
- A productive, organised, and methodical approach to work
- Full UK driving licence.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Desirable criteria:-
- NVQ level 2 or 3 in plant maintenance, equivalent qualification or time served.
- Manufacturer training or practical experience with brands such as Makita, Honda Stihl or Rigid.
- Previous experience in tool hire or plant hire environment
