Job Introduction

Reporting into the Regional Manager, our new Area Manager will be responsible for new Business Development as well as managing our key customer accounts.

You will be instrumental in growing the Groundforce portfolio across this region.

This unique position requires you to provide a balanced and multifaceted approach to driving sales growth and maintaining strong customer relationships.

You will play a crucial role in generating leads, nurturing relationships, and driving sales growth through self‑driven proactive activity.

This role covers Cambridge, Stevenage, St Albans, Peterborough (east), Colchester, Ipswich & Norwich.

Please note, any prospective candidates must live "on‑patch".

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate leads by proactively identifying and reaching out to potential customers, including selected existing customers, through telesales and other outreach strategies.
  • Build, nurture and develop relationships with clients to understand their equipment needs.
  • Effectively promote our products and services, creating sales opportunities and contributing to the overall success of the business.
  • Maximise revenue and profit by developing and managing a portfolio of accounts, projects, and prospects.
  • Hold regular reviews with the Regional Manager to measure revenue performance and sales approach effectiveness in the region or focus area.
  • Cold‑call and warm‑call interactions.
  • Take a self‑driven and proactive approach to seeking and developing new accounts, ensuring a continuous pipeline of opportunities.
  • Always ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by understanding client needs, addressing concerns, and providing tailored solutions.
  • Leverage a strong and proven sales background to effectively manage and grow existing accounts.

This may involve spending time on construction projects for product demonstration solutions that enhance productivity and/or improve safety performance and best practice.

  • Ensure you are following Health and Safety practices both on our sites and on our customer sites.
  • Provide holiday and/or sickness cover on the Hire Desk as and when required.
  • What We’re Looking For
  • Experience in equipment rental, construction or similar industries.
  • Hands‑on and willing to get stuck in with a flexible “can‑do” attitude, remaining calm under pressure.
  • Driven, self‑sufficient, proactive and motivated.
  • Good problem‑solving skills.
  • Track record of achieving sales or business development targets.
  • Strong telesales skills for lead generation and relationship building.
  • Demonstrated ability to maximise revenue and profit through proactive customer management.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability to balance business development and account management responsibilities effectively.
  • Transparency of activity to key stakeholders utilising the CRM system.
  • A genuine passion for driving sales growth, building lasting customer relationships that thrives in a dynamic, hybrid role.
