We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Management Accountant to join our busy, supportive, and motivated Shared Service Centre Team in Harrogate. The role is responsible for producing accurate and timely financial information across the Group's divisional portfolio. The right candidate will provide continuous review and challenge to existing processes and will be expected to interrogate financial data independently. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the team in the production of the management accounts, ensuring they are produced to the standards required and within published timetables.
- Prepare, review and document monthly balance sheet reconciliations and quarterly VAT returns.
- Manage and develop the direct reports including carrying out Performance and Development reviews on a regular basis, and ensuring individuals are trained and supported to be able to carry out their roles and provide a high level of service to the divisions.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with divisional finance teams and other SSC and group functions.
- Assist in the compilation of data to support external and internal audit requirements and other information required for year-end reporting, identifying efficiencies and improvements where annual process can be streamlined into monthly tasks.
- Review, suggest improvements, and assist in the implementation of changes to the processes and controls around all aspects of finance.
- Ensure appropriate procedure notes are maintained, updated and documented for all areas of responsibility.
- Be involved in key projects within the Finance Team and the Group as directed.
- When considered necessary or appropriate by management you may be required to carry out any duties considered within your skill and competence to assist the smooth running of the business.
What We're Looking For
- CIMA/ACCA/ACA qualified or equivalent.
- Experience of accounting processes in a large/high volume organisation.
- Positive attitude and desire to take responsibility for an exceptional level of customer service provided by the finance team.
- Demonstrate an ability to identify and implement continuous process improvement.
- You should be able to provide clear evidence of working to and meeting deadlines in a pressurised environment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Although not a must have: Line management experience would be beneficial.
