As part of the recent growth of the Transport Division of MEP we’re now looking for a Transport Planner to cover our very busy London region. This business-critical role is responsible for cost effective routing of deliveries and collections to and from customers, suppliers and other Vp businesses, whilst ensuring that at all times the highest level of customer service is being provided.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensure all deliveries, collections and communications meet the customer’s expectations
- Work with the Branch Managers to develop a long-term transport strategy
- Adopt and fully utilise any chosen systems so optimal route efficiency becomes the norm
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of all resources and procedures to identify process improvement opportunities
- Work with Transport Controllers to ensure all relevant compliance issues are managed
- Generate savings on fuel and other transport related costs, e.g. agency drivers
- Alert Branch Managers / Sales to new sites opening and large volume collections
- Transport Planning experience
- Understanding of the relevant vehicle capabilities
- Well organised, detail conscious with a flexible approach to work and passionate about making a difference
- Experience of dealing with challenging customers – internal and external
- Knowledge of Manchester local road network
- Understanding of our Product range – Desirable
- Valid driving licence – Desirable
- IT Literate – Desirable
