We have an exciting new opportunity to join our busy office in Morley as a Transport Planner. In this role you will provide full support to your line manager by delivering excellent customer service and ensuring all transport movements are completed efficiently, accurately and in line with company policies, procedures, processes and customer requirements. You will strive to ensure all transport movements are undertaken in the most cost-effective manner working closely with all members of the Hire Desk, Operations & Sales teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Arrange the deliveries and collections of equipment from customer sites
- Organise internal transfer between depots, using our own fleet of vehicles and external haulage where necessary
- Ensure all movements are completed efficiently and cost effectively
- Liaise with drivers/hauliers and use tracking software to ensure each driver’s route is on schedule
- Liaise with all Hire Controllers and Operations teams to ensure accurate and prompt deliveries/collections
- Advising customers of accurate ETA’s and any delays that may occur
- Ensure records are accurately maintained
- Process purchase orders for external haulage
- Monitor emails and arrange any special requests such as wide load movements or booking in procedures
What We’re Looking For
- Effective customer service skills and excellent telephone manner
- Experience in a similar planning role – advantageous
- Good geographical knowledge of region/UK and Europe – advantageous
- Knowledge of construction/housing/civil engineering industry – advantageous
- Knowledge of shoring/hire industry – advantageous
- Understanding of driver hours and working time regulations – advantageous
- Knowledge of transport fleet management/scheduling software – advantageous
