We are now looking for a Regional Operations Manager to work closely with the Regional Director in supporting the effective delivery of all operational activities across the region. This role is critical in ensuring the achievement of annual financial budgets, driving operational efficiency, maintaining compliance, and delivering exceptional customer service.
You will take responsibility for the effective management of Branch Managers and regional pool drivers across allocated branches, ensuring people, assets and vehicles are fully optimised to support profitable growth and customer retention.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide effective line management to Branch Managers and regional pool drivers.
- Work collaboratively with the Regional Director and regional management peers to deliver budgeted turnover and profit targets.
- Monitor and control regional costs, reducing agency driver usage, overtime and haulage spend through improved planning and operational efficiencies.
- Ensure appropriate operational cover across branches, deputising for Branch Managers where required.
- Plan and manage driver holidays and allocate regional pool drivers to provide sickness and holiday cover.
- Lead the induction and onboarding of branch management, supporting training and development across the region.
- Ensure company procedures, KPIs, training requirements and reporting standards are consistently applied.
- Optimise regional asset distribution to maximise fleet utilisation and revenue generation.
- Ensure stock checks and regular asset audits are completed to maintain accurate records.
- Hold Branch Managers accountable for transport compliance, including tachograph records, infringements, Samsara alerts, servicing schedules and mandatory driver training compliance.
- Ensure high standards of customer service are delivered consistently across all branches.
- Promote and uphold the MEP brand, ensuring a professional image is maintained at all times.
- Champion a strong health & safety culture across the region.
- Proven experience managing a branch or operational unit within a hire, logistics or service-led environment.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness, with experience managing budgets and controlling costs.
- Sound knowledge of low-level access equipment and/or mechanical, electrical and plumbing equipment (hire industry experience desirable).
- Experience managing multiple sites or geographically dispersed teams (desirable).
- Willingness to travel frequently and provide practical, hands-on operational support.
- Visible leader with the ability to influence, motivate and hold teams accountable.
- Clear and confident communicator at all levels.
- High levels of drive, resilience and personal accountability.
- Strong coaching mindset with a commitment to developing people and building high-performing teams.
