Position Overview
Reporting to the Operations Manager, the Schools Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating driver dispatch operations and ensuring the accuracy and clarity of route instructions provided to drivers. This role ensures compliance with operational standards, supports incident reporting, and leverages regional knowledge to recommend efficient solutions and alternative routing as needed. Success in this position requires strong customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Your role
- Coordinate and assist with school routes, ensuring timely and efficient service
- Take vehicles out to drivers experiencing mechanical issues or breakdowns
- Cover school routes in circumstances where all other options have been exhausted
- Communicate with drivers, monitors, and supervisors to resolve on-road issues
- Track vehicle locations and relay important updates to drivers
- Handle incoming calls and inquiries related to school transportation
- Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including absences and delays
- Identify all routes and ensure drivers are en-route, on time, and no students are left behind
- Manage and pull a variety of reports as per the Dispatch Supervisor’s directive
- Manage and assist with scheduling vehicle maintenance as required
Your Profile
- You have dispatch experience within the transportation or service industry or related education
- You are able to utilize a radio to listen to, respond to, and communicate effectively with all drivers
- You have excellent time and stress management skills
- You are a multi-tasker who can prioritize several urgent and important tasks at the same time
- You take initiative to solve problems and search out the data needed to do so
- You are able to accurately follow all procedures to meet corporate and legal obligations
- You have superior customer service skills
- You are computer literate and have software experience in MS Office (Outlook, Word, and Excel)
- You have intermediate to advanced verbal and written language skills (equivalent to B2 to C1 levels)
- You are available to work Monday to Friday 9:00AM - 5:30PM
Your Location
This position is located at 573 Admiral Court (main floor) and is 100% in-office. Remote work is not available.
Hourly Rate:
The rate for the successful candidate will be $22.00 per hour with benefits after 3 months. Hourly rate will increase to $23.00 upon successful completion of a B Class licence upgrade (Voyago will cover the expense of the upgrade training).
