Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and support the student induction process from referral through to placement, including organising visits, transition meetings and initial assessments, and liaising with families, schools and external professionals to ensure a smooth and well-structured transition into the school.
- Support the SENCo with SEND processes, including maintaining accurate records, assisting with the organisation of EHCP reviews and SEND meetings, and liaising with external agencies involved in supporting students.
- Help arrange and manage pupil transport requirements, particularly for new starters, and liaise with external agencies to support access and inclusion.
- Attend training as necessary, including training related to SEND, safeguarding and student induction processes.
- Undertake such other duties relating to the work of the school appropriate to the post as may be assigned by the Office Manager/Headteacher.
- Be aware of and comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, safeguarding, health and safety, confidentiality and data protection.
- Maintain complete confidentiality at all times, particularly in relation to sensitive student, SEND and family information.
Safeguarding:
- All staff have a responsibility to ensure that all school Safeguarding Policies are adhered to, at all times and that concerns are raised, in line with School Policy.
- Commit to attend suitable training to support safeguarding and health and safety responsibilities within the school.
- Attend specific staff training sessions, or INSET days, in line with safeguarding and health and safety legislation.
Desired Criteria:
- Experience of working in a school/forward facing office environment.
- Experience of using school MIS systems or similar software packages.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Experience liaising with outside agencies and parents.
- Experience of communicating with members of the public.
- Good knowledge and understanding of administrative procedures.
- High level of accuracy.
- Good functional literacy and numeracy skills.
- Good standard of general education to include 5 GCSEs (including Maths and English A - C).
- Willingness to undertake training and development.
- Ability to interact well with children who have complex learning difficulties and their families.
- Understanding of child safeguarding issues.
- Friendly, patient and approachable demeanour.
- Able to use/learn school IT systems and packages.
- Self-motivated and organised with the ability to work calmly under pressure and to meet deadlines.
- Confidentiality, tact and diplomacy in relationships with all members of our school community.
- Passion to undertake tasks to the very best of own ability.
