Job Description:

The Junior Director of Commercial Insights and Strategy will play a pivotal role in enabling Voyage Care’s commercial growth and strategic decision-making. This role combines market insight, data analytics, strategic planning, and commercial storytelling to support initiatives across mergers & acquisitions, pricing, business development, tenders, and strategic partnerships.

As a key member of the Commercial team, you will provide actionable insight that shapes where and how Voyage Care grows, ensuring our services align with demand, deliver value to commissioners, and meet evolving sector needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Insight and Intelligence
  • Own the commercial market insight function: track referral patterns, commissioner trends, pricing benchmarks, and housing pipeline data.
  • Develop insight packs and dashboards to support growth strategy, regional planning, and investment decisions.
  • Partner with Strategy, Digital, Property and Finance teams to align internal and external data sources.
  • Strategic Planning and Business Modelling
  • Support the Chief Commercial Officer in developing annual commercial growth plans and strategic priorities.
  • Lead data modelling for new developments, acquisition opportunities, and tenders integrating demand, fee potential, and capacity assumptions.
  • Contribute to business case development and due diligence workstreams.
  • Lead and coordinate cross-functional strategic projects across the commercial portfolio, ensuring alignment with growth ambitions and organisational priorities.
  • Act as the commercial discipline owner, bringing strategic structure and challenge to project initiation, scoping, and prioritisation decisions.
  • Evaluate and triage incoming growth opportunities, proposals, and change initiatives ensuring that resources are focused on high-impact, commercially sound projects.
  • Drive project governance by developing clear business cases, success measures, and reporting frameworks for major commercial initiatives (e.g., new service lines, pricing pilots, strategic tenders, or regional expansions).
  • Commercial Performance Monitoring
  • Track and report on commercial KPIs across referrals, placements, pricing uplifts, tender outcomes, and occupancy.
  • Review and understand baseline assumptions are up to date and accurate with the latest data insight, be the gatekeeper, reviewing all BDM workings before leaving the department
  • Analysis of historic bids & tenders, looking for trends to further improve winning bids and identify any consistent components in failed bids
  • Post evaluation of winning bids to ensure that actual delivery is in line with expected results
  • Identify underperforming regions or services and surface insight to inform action.
  • Support for Leadership and Board Reporting
  • Prepare strategic presentations, performance narratives, and briefing notes for the Executive Leadership Team and Board.
  • Translate complex data into clear, compelling insights for non-technical audiences.

Collaboration and Influence

  • Act as a strategic business partner to Business Development, Tendering, Fees, and Property leads.
  • Facilitate insight-sharing across the organisation to build a culture of data-led decision-making.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in commercial strategy, business analysis, healthcare/commissioning, or consulting.
  • Strong analytical skills and financial acumen, with comfort in Excel, CRM systems, Power BI or similar tools.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, including the ability to influence senior stakeholders.
  • Experience interpreting public sector data (e.g., NHS, local authority, CQC, LGA).
  • Strong commercial understanding of health and social care markets .
  • Knowledge of specialist care services (LD, autism, ABI, Complex care, supported living).
  • Experience supporting M&A or property-based developments.
  • Familiarity with pricing tools such as CareCubed.
