We're looking for a dependable, trade-qualified Carpenter to join a site-based team delivering residential, commercial, and fit-out projects across Greater London. You'll be a core part of a multi-trade environment, working on varied and interesting projects where your skills will genuinely make a difference.
The roleThis is a hands-on, site-based position covering the full scope of carpentry and joinery work. Day to day, you'll be: Carrying out first and second fix carpentry stud partitioning, door linings, skirting, architraves, structural timber work, and moreHanging doors, fitting frames and door furniture, and ensuring everything is level, square, and functioning correctly- Installing kitchen units, wardrobes, and bespoke or manufactured joinery to specificationLaying hardwood, engineered, and laminate flooring, including subfloor preparationReading and working from construction drawings, architectural plans, and cut listsCarrying out remedial and refurbishment carpentry on existing structuresErecting and dismantling timber formwork, hoarding, or temporary works as requiredLiaising with Site Managers, other trades, and occasionally clients to keep work sequenced and on programmeManaging materials on site and maintaining a clean, safe working environment in line with the site health and safety planWorking hours are typically Monday to Friday, 07:3017:00 or 08:0017:30, with occasional overtime or Saturday working during busy programme periods. Projects span inner and outer London boroughs, so reliable commuting across the Greater London area is essential.
What we're looking forEssential: Minimum 3 years' post-training, hands-on carpentry experience in a professional construction or maintenance environmentProven experience across both first and second fix on residential or commercial projectsNVQ Level 2 or 3 in Carpentry and Joinery (or City & Guilds equivalent), or a recognised trade apprenticeshipValid CSCS Blue Skilled Worker card as a minimum this is a firm site-access requirementConfident reading construction drawings and working accurately from cut listsCompetent with a full range of hand tools and power tools, including mitre saws, circular saws, jigsaws, routers, and nail gunsSound working knowledge of UK building regulations as they apply to carpentry and joineryRight to work in the United KingdomPhysically fit for the demands of the role, including working at height, lifting timber and sheet materials, and sustained periods of kneeling and standingDesirable (not essential, but great to have): NVQ Level 3 or full advanced apprenticeshipExperience on heritage, conservation, or period property restoration projectsIPAF or PASMA certificationFirst Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid on Site certificateExperience with bespoke staircase components, sash window restoration, or fitted furnitureAsbestos Awareness certificate (Category A)Own van and full, clean UK driving licenceFamiliarity with site management software such as Fieldview or ProcoreBeyond the technical skills, we're looking for someone who is reliable, punctual, and takes quality seriously at every stage not just the visible finishes. You'll need clear communication skills, a collaborative attitude in a multi-trade environment, and the problem-solving instinct to adapt when things don't go exactly to plan on site.
