We are currently recruiting for a Procurement Officer to join a Council based in South East London.
Role Details:
- Rate: £29 per hour umbrella
- Contract: 3 months ongoing
- Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm
The Council is transforming its approach to procurement, with a strong focus on achieving best value for money while embedding social value into procurement activity. The procurement team plays a key role in advising departments and supporting effective procurement exercises that deliver strong outcomes for residents. The Procurement Officer will support procurement activity across key service areas, working closely with Category Leads, Category Managers and wider directorates. The role will involve providing procurement advice and guidance, supporting individual procurement workstreams, and ensuring procurement exercises are compliant, effective and focused on value for money and social value.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting procurement exercises and individual workstreams
- Providing procurement advice and guidance to Council departments
- Helping deliver value for money and social value outcomes
- Working within procurement regulations and best practice
- Supporting category teams across People, Place or Resources
Requirements:
- Experience working in procurement, ideally within the public sector or local government
- Strong understanding of procurement processes and regulations
- Ability to support procurement projects and workstreams
- Good communication and stakeholder management skills
- CIPS qualification or working towards CIPS membership would be desirable
