Rate: £33.83 per hour Umbrella

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 2 days per week in the office

About the Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Parking Scheme Manager to join a busy local authority in South East London. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the delivery of parking improvement projects across housing estates, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with strategic objectives. You will play a key role in driving service improvements, managing budgets, overseeing contractors, and leading a dedicated parking team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of parking projects across housing estates from inception through to completion.
  • Support the Parking Design and Improvement Manager and Head of Parking in driving continuous service improvement.
  • Manage project budgets, funding streams, governance arrangements, and project plans.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and ensure successful delivery within agreed timescales.
  • Work closely with internal teams, parking design contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders.
  • Produce reports on project performance, milestones, risks, and outcomes.
  • Evaluate completed projects and identify opportunities for future improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and governance requirements.
  • Provide strategic direction on housing estate parking schemes and improvement initiatives.

Team Management

This role includes direct line management responsibility for a team of approximately 5–6 staff, including:

  • Senior Parking Assistants
  • Parking Assistants

You will provide day-to-day leadership, performance management, coaching, and support, ensuring the team delivers an efficient, high-quality service while promoting continuous professional development.

About You

  • Experience managing parking, highways, or transport-related projects within a local authority or similar environment.
  • Strong project management skills with experience delivering projects to time and budget.
  • Experience managing budgets, governance processes, and funding streams.
  • Proven ability to manage contractors, consultants, and multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience leading and developing teams.
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of parking legislation and local authority parking operations is highly desirable.
