To carry out a full range of plumbing maintenance, repairs, and installations across council-owned and domestic properties, ensuring all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard in line with current regulations.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Undertake plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installations in occupied and void domestic properties.
- Diagnose faults and carry out remedial works on hot and cold water systems, sanitation, and drainage.
- Install, repair, and maintain pipework, fittings, valves, and appliances.
- Carry out bathroom and kitchen plumbing works where required.
- Respond to emergency and reactive maintenance call-outs.
- Ensure all work complies with health & safety regulations, building regulations, and council policies.
- Complete job records, reports, and paperwork accurately using mobile or paper-based systems.
- Provide a professional, customer-focused service to tenants and residents.
- Work independently or as part of a multi-skilled maintenance team.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and council vehicles in a safe and serviceable condition.
Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Plumbing (or equivalent recognised qualification).
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Proven experience working within council, local authority, or social housing environments.
- Strong background in domestic plumbing maintenance and repairs.
- Good knowledge of current plumbing regulations and health & safety standards.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
Desirable
- Experience working in occupied social housing properties.
- Basic multi-skilled maintenance experience (e.g. tiling, patch plastering).
- CSCS card.
- Experience using PDA/mobile job management systems.
