We are currently recruiting for an experienced Fire Safety Technical Lead to join a local authority housing service in South East London. This is a senior technical leadership role providing strategic and operational oversight across fire safety, fire engineering and building safety compliance within the council's housing portfolio, including Higher-Risk Buildings (HRBs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing technical leadership and assurance across fire safety and building safety compliance
  • Reviewing fire strategies, technical drawings, FRA actions and refurbishment works
  • Leading fire incident investigations and lessons learned reviews
  • Carring out contractor assurance and risk-based site inspections
  • Providing specialist advice on fire protection systems including alarms, sprinklers, smoke control systems and fire doors
  • Supporting Building Safety Case compliance and regulatory submissions
  • Escalating significant compliance and fire safety risks to senior management
  • Leading and developing technical staff and direct reports

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in fire safety, fire engineering or building safety within housing/local authority environments
  • Strong knowledge of: Building Safety Act, Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, Approved Document B, BS 9991, BS 5839 and BS 5266
  • Experience managing FRA compliance, contractor performance and fire safety audits
  • Ability to provide technical assurance across HRBs and residential housing stock
  • Strong stakeholder management and leadership skills
