As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality mechanical building services solutions across a wide range of sectors. You will support project leadership, mentor junior engineers, and provide strong technical input throughout all design stages.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading mechanical design packages from concept through detailed design
  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders including Clients, Architects, Contractors, and multidisciplinary consultants
  • Attending and contributing to design team meetings and workshops
  • Undertaking calculations, system sizing, and producing technical reports
  • Conducting site inspections and feeding back into the design process
  • Supporting project planning, programme management, and commercial targets
  • Working closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver fully coordinated MEP solutions
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate mechanical engineers
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and best practice guidelines

Requirements:

  • 5+ years’ experience within a UK Building Services Consultancy
  • Strong understanding of mechanical building services, including HVAC, LTHW/CHW, public health interfaces, and low-carbon solutions
  • Proficiency in relevant industry software (e.g., Hevacomp, IES, CFD tools desirable)
  • Working knowledge of CAD/Revit and coordinated MEP modelling workflows
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline
  • Strong understanding of UK building regulations, sustainability standards, and industry best practice
  • Up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety and Environmental considerations
  • Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with clients and design partners
  • Progress towards Chartership (CIBSE/IMechE) is highly advantageous
