As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality mechanical building services solutions across a wide range of sectors. You will support project leadership, mentor junior engineers, and provide strong technical input throughout all design stages.
Responsibilities:
- Leading mechanical design packages from concept through detailed design
- Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders including Clients, Architects, Contractors, and multidisciplinary consultants
- Attending and contributing to design team meetings and workshops
- Undertaking calculations, system sizing, and producing technical reports
- Conducting site inspections and feeding back into the design process
- Supporting project planning, programme management, and commercial targets
- Working closely with other engineering disciplines to deliver fully coordinated MEP solutions
- Providing guidance and mentorship to junior and intermediate mechanical engineers
- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and best practice guidelines
Requirements:
- 5+ years’ experience within a UK Building Services Consultancy
- Strong understanding of mechanical building services, including HVAC, LTHW/CHW, public health interfaces, and low‑carbon solutions
- Proficiency in relevant industry software (e.g., Hevacomp, IES, CFD tools desirable)
- Working knowledge of CAD/Revit and coordinated MEP modelling workflows
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or related discipline
- Strong understanding of UK building regulations, sustainability standards, and industry best practice
- Up‑to‑date knowledge of Health & Safety and Environmental considerations
- Excellent communication skills and confidence working directly with clients and design partners
- Progress towards Chartership (CIBSE/IMechE) is highly advantageous
