We are seeking an experienced Housing Benefit Assessment Officer (Financial Inclusion) to join a busy local authority team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled assessor with expertise in Housing Benefit, particularly within Temporary Accommodation (TA).
Key Responsibilities:
Process and assess all Housing Benefit claims, including new claims, changes in circumstances, reviews, and reconsiderations, with a strong focus on Temporary Accommodation.
Work on sign-ups for both Temporary Accommodation and General Needs tenancies, with TA being the main priority.
Apply accurate knowledge of relevant Housing Benefit and Universal Credit legislation and guidance.
Ensure accurate and timely decision-making to support financial inclusion for vulnerable households.
Liaise with internal teams, landlords, and external partners to resolve queries and ensure compliance.Essential Requirements:
Minimum 2 years’ experience in Housing Benefit assessment and calculations.
Strong knowledge of Temporary Accommodation claims.
Proficiency in using Atlas, VEP, HBAA, Northgate NPS, iWorld, and (email address removed) systems.
Good working knowledge of Universal Credit and its interaction with HB.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage complex caseloads effectively.
