About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Asset Appraisal Surveyor to join a busy local authority in North West London. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Building Surveyor to play a key role in assessing and appraising a diverse property portfolio. You will undertake surveys, provide technical advice, and support strategic decisions relating to asset management, maintenance, investment, and property improvements. Working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders, you will ensure that assets are maintained to a high standard while delivering value for money and supporting the organisation's long-term property strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out asset appraisals and condition surveys across a varied property portfolio.
- Assess the condition, performance, and lifecycle of buildings and identify maintenance requirements.
- Prepare detailed survey reports with recommendations for repairs, refurbishment, or disposal.
- Provide professional building surveying advice to support asset management decisions.
- Support planned maintenance and capital investment programmes.
- Ensure compliance with current building regulations, health and safety legislation, and statutory requirements.
- Manage and monitor external contractors and consultants where required.
- Maintain accurate property and asset records.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to deliver projects on time and within budget.
About You:
- Degree or HND in Building Surveying or an equivalent qualification.
- Experience carrying out building condition surveys and asset appraisals.
- Strong knowledge of building construction, defects, and maintenance practices.
- Experience working within property, asset management, or building surveying.
- Good understanding of relevant legislation, building regulations, and health and safety requirements.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- Ability to manage a varied workload and work independently.
- Experience working within a local authority or public sector environment is desirable.
