Job Title: Aids & Adaptations Surveyor Location: North London (Local Authority) Rate: £40.37 per hour (Umbrella) Contract: 3–6 month ongoing contract Requirements: Enhanced DBS About the Role We are seeking an experienced Aids & Adaptations Surveyor to join a busy Local Authority team in North London. The successful candidate will be responsible for surveying properties, specifying suitable adaptations, and ensuring works are delivered to a high standard to improve residents’ quality of life and independence. Key Responsibilities Carry out property inspections and assessments to determine required aids and adaptations for residents with disabilities or mobility needs. Prepare detailed specifications and schedules of work for adaptations including level access showers, ramps, stairlifts, and other specialist equipment. Liaise with occupational therapists, contractors, residents, and internal teams to agree suitable adaptations. Manage and monitor works on site, ensuring quality, compliance with health & safety, and value for money. Provide technical advice and guidance to colleagues, residents, and contractors. Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and ensure all works are completed in line with statutory requirements and local authority policies.Requirements Proven experience as a Surveyor, ideally within a local authority housing or property services environment. Strong knowledge of aids and adaptations works, Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG), and relevant building regulations. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to produce clear specifications, monitor contractor performance, and manage works from inception to completion. Enhanced DBS check required prior to starting.
