We are currently recruiting for an experienced Head of Damp & Mould / Disrepair to join a local authority housing team in South London on an interim basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior property services professional to lead a high-profile service area focused on damp & mould compliance, disrepair management, and statutory housing obligations.

About the Role

The successful candidate will act as the interim lead for the Damp & Mould / Disrepair team, reporting directly to the Assistant Director. You will lead a team of 10 staff members and oversee service delivery carried out by directly employed operatives and external contractors, ensuring high-quality outcomes and full legislative compliance. This role will work closely with key stakeholders across property and housing services to ensure accurate record keeping and compliance with statutory obligations under Awaab’s Law and disrepair legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage the Damp & Mould / Disrepair service on an interim basis
  • Oversee a team of 10 staff alongside contractors and operational delivery teams
  • Ensure compliance with Awaab’s Law and all relevant disrepair legislation
  • Monitor contractor performance, service standards, and operational delivery
  • Work collaboratively with senior stakeholders across housing and property services
  • Ensure accurate data management, reporting, and record keeping
  • Drive service improvements and ensure timely resolution of damp & mould and disrepair cases
  • Provide strategic leadership and operational oversight within a high-profile service area
Requirements
  • Proven experience leading Damp & Mould and/or Disrepair services within social housing or local government
  • Strong understanding of housing legislation, compliance, and property services
  • Experience managing large operational teams and external contractors
  • Knowledge of Awaab’s Law and disrepair regulations is essential
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced interim environment
