This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly regarded Fire Safety Team within the Housing Directorate, supporting the delivery of critical fire safety services across residential properties. We are seeking experienced Complex Building Assessors / Fire Risk Assessors to join our in-house team, carrying out Type 1 Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) and contributing to the ongoing safety and compliance of our housing portfolio.

You will have the flexibility to manage your own diary and workload, working closely with the Fire Safety Co-Ordinator to ensure efficient delivery of services to residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Type 1 Fire Risk Assessments across a range of residential properties
  • Monitor and review the existing legacy portfolio in relation to FRAs
  • Support the development and implementation of procedures to manage fire risk effectively
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of fire safety practices and technical standards
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Fire Safety Team and wider organisation
  • Ensure high-quality reporting and clear communication of fire safety risks and actions

You will be joining a team of experienced Fire Risk Assessors and Fire Safety Co-Ordinators, working collaboratively to ensure the safety of residents and buildings. Reporting to the Fire Safety Manager, you will play a key role in maintaining a robust and proactive approach to fire risk management across the Council’s housing stock.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential Experience
  • Proven experience conducting fire risk assessments within residential properties
  • Several years of demonstrable FRA experience
  • Experience working within complex or high-risk building environments
Qualifications (one of the following required)
  • Tier 3 Fire Risk Assessor
  • Level 5 Fire Risk Assessor qualification
  • Fire Engineering qualification
  • Level 6 Fire Safety qualification (e.g. Chartered Institute of Building)
Professional Membership
  • Membership of a recognised body such as:
  • Institution of Fire Engineers
  • Institute of Fire Safety Managers
  • Chartered Association of Building Engineers
