Location: Hybrid – 2 days in office / 3 days from home

Rate: £43 per hour (Umbrella)

Contract: 3 months ongoing

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Building Safety Manager to join a Local Authority within Housing Services on an interim basis. This is a key role within the Building Safety & Compliance team, responsible for ensuring the safety and compliance of higher-risk residential buildings (HRBs), while supporting the delivery of statutory obligations and best practice across the housing portfolio.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead on building safety management across designated high-risk residential buildings
  • Ensure compliance with the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and relevant regulations
  • Develop, manage, and review Building Safety Cases and Case Reports
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and risk assessments relating to fire and structural safety
  • Work collaboratively with Housing, Repairs, and Asset teams to address safety actions
  • Act as a key liaison with the Building Safety Regulator and London Fire Brigade
  • Promote and lead on resident engagement around safety and compliance
  • Oversee delivery of both minor and major building safety works
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to internal teams and senior stakeholders
About You:
  • Proven experience (3+ years) in building safety, fire safety, or housing compliance
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and safety case principles
  • Experience managing Building Safety Case Reports and compliance documentation
  • Ability to lead across multi-disciplinary teams and drive improvements
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills, including working with residents
  • Experience mentoring or supporting housing or operational teams
Qualifications & Memberships:
  • CIOB Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management (or working towards)
  • Health & Safety qualification
  • Membership (or working towards) with a relevant professional body such as CIOB, IOSH, IFE, IFSM, or RICS (desirable)
