- Accountant to join a busy Finance team within a Local Authority in
West London .
This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional with recent local authority experience to support key financial functions, including budget preparation, budget monitoring, year-end accounts and financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and manage revenue and capital budgets for allocated service areas.
- Carry out budget monitoring and provide accurate financial forecasts.
- Support the year-end close-down process and production of final accounts.
- Review and identify savings opportunities, providing financial analysis and recommendations.
- Provide financial advice and support to budget holders and senior managers.
- Prepare financial reports, business cases and management information.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, accounting standards and council policies.
- Analyse financial data and identify trends to support decision-making.
- Support the continuous improvement of financial processes and controls.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders across the organisation to deliver high-quality financial services.
About You
Recent Local Authority finance experience is essential.
- Experience preparing budgets, monitoring expenditure and closing accounts.
- Experience identifying and reviewing savings opportunities.
- Knowledge of local government finance, financial regulations and accounting practices.
- Experience using the
IBC Financial System is highly desirable.
- Strong Excel and financial analysis skills.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
