Homelessness Resettlement Officer – North West London
Pay Rate: £28 per hour (Umbrella)
Contract: 6 months ongoing
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 9am–5pm
Working Arrangement: Hybrid Working
About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Homelessness Resettlement Officer to join a Local Authority in West London on a 6-month ongoing contract.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting homeless households in securing suitable alternative accommodation, ensuring compliance with housing legislation and assisting the Council in fulfilling its homelessness duties.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored housing advice and support to households where the Council has accepted a homelessness duty.
- Assist households in identifying and securing suitable alternative housing options.
- Carry out inspections of nightly paid emergency accommodation to ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements.
- Liaise with private landlords and accommodation providers to secure suitable housing.
- Process timely payments to private landlords for properties secured for homeless households.
- Support the lawful discharge of homelessness duties where appropriate.
- Maintain accurate case records and provide regular updates on household progress.
Requirements
- Previous experience working in homelessness, housing options, resettlement or temporary accommodation within a local authority or similar environment.
- Good understanding of homelessness legislation, including the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Experience supporting vulnerable households and identifying suitable housing solutions.
- Strong communication, negotiation and case management skills.
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and work independently.
