THE ROLE
The Assistant Buyer plays a key role within the Buying Team. The role involves developing innovative products and building fashion-forward, commercial ranges that meet sales and margin targets. You will work closely with your Buyer, as well as Design, Technical, Merchandising teams, Suppliers, and Brands, to develop a range loved by our fashion-forward 20-something customers.
What you\’ll be doing
- Supporting the Buyer in sourcing and developing products
- Overseeing fitting and sealing of samples
- Building a relevant, fashion-forward range with constant newness for our target demographic
- Establishing strong relationships with suppliers, especially for negotiating costs and delivery dates
- Collaborating with your buyer to optimize sales and profits during the season
- Contributing to department strategy by identifying risks and opportunities supported by data, and presenting these to the Buyer & Merchandiser
- Using company levers to influence sales performance
- Working with Design and Merchandising teams to build the range, analyze sales data, and justify decisions based on trends and trade elements
- Monitoring global competitors’ pricing, product, and current affairs, and presenting findings
- Presenting CUM BTA in the Buyer’s absence with clear trading actions
- Managing the critical path and highlighting risks of missing deadlines
- Collaborating with Sourcing and Technical teams on sourcing, ethical, garment tech, and fabric considerations related to Fashion with Integrity
- Overseeing the training and development of Buyers Administrators within the team

We\’d love to meet someone who
- Has previous Fashion Buying experience as an Assistant Buyer within Menswear at a fast-paced, global retailer or brand
- Lives and breathes fashion, passionate about product
- Understands 20-something culture and the ASOS customer, with the ability to spot relevant trends
- Is highly organized, proactive, and able to work under pressure
- Has excellent attention to detail for pricing, shipment dates, and product attributes
- Can build strong relationships with retail teams and suppliers
- Embodies the ASOS values: Authentic, Brave, Creative, Disciplined
- Communicates and presents effectively at all levels
- Has experience with relevant trading systems and MS Office
