Who Are Vorboss

Vorboss is building London’s next-generation business fibre network. We take this responsibility seriously – for most businesses, reliable fibre internet is as vital as heat, electricity and water. We are determined to completely transform the fibre network in London and beyond, and we’re on the hunt for smart, talented people to join us.

Role Overview

Vorboss is looking for an experienced Head of IT to lead our established IT department, running and overseeing all IT operations within a fast‑paced technical‑first environment. You will report directly to the CIO and work to "level‑up" the in‑house IT function by identifying new and improving existing processes to support our rapidly growing business. Our business operates in a regulated sector with extremely high demands on service availability, security and compliance, and we deploy best‑in‑class solutions focusing on high‑availability and security.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and continually improve the quality and efficiency of our internal IT operations—including corporate infrastructure, end‑user computing, office AV, and internal business applications—managing existing processes and implementing new ones to support business growth.
  • Lead, grow, and mentor the IT team, identifying skill gaps and hiring needs as the business expands; oversee IT service desk and user support functions.
  • Formulate, implement, and regularly test IT Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery plans.
  • Manage relationships with key technology vendors and service providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring SLAs are met.
  • Oversee IT budgets, forecasting, and procurement, ensuring cost‑effective delivery of services.
  • Collaborate with Security, Software Engineering, and Network Operations teams to ensure seamless integration between internal systems and core infrastructure.
  • Define and maintain IT policies, standards, and documentation in line with regulatory requirements and industry best practice.
  • Support onboarding and off‑boarding processes, ensuring staff have appropriate access and equipment from day one.
  • Evaluate and implement new technologies that enhance productivity, security, and operational resilience.
  • Report to senior leadership on IT performance, risks, and strategic initiatives.

Essential Qualifications

  • A technologist first—knows when to delegate and when to get hands‑on.
  • Experienced IT Manager or Head of IT, ideally in a regulated environment such as legal, financial services, or infrastructure.
  • Strong experience administering complex Windows environments on‑premises and in the cloud (Azure), including hybrid AD deployments.
  • Experience managing hybrid Windows/macOS estates.
  • Solid understanding of cyber security principles and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience building, nurturing, and developing IT teams.
  • Confident project managing initiatives from scoping through to delivery.
  • Strong communicator who works effectively cross‑functionally.
  • Organised and able to prioritise competing demands.

Desirable

  • Familiarity with hyperconverged infrastructure (Azure Stack HCI ideal).
  • Comfortable working across platforms, including enterprise Linux.
  • Experience with office AV and conferencing systems.
  • Exposure to physical security systems (access control, CCTV).
  • Experience in a high‑growth or scaling business environment.

Benefits

  • Employee Share Plan – Once an employee at Vorboss, we offer the opportunity to become a shareholder in the company.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Bonus scheme.
  • 25 days of annual leave allowance that increases with years served (excluding bank holidays).
  • Private Healthcare.
  • Access to Spill, our mental health support partner.
  • Cycle to work scheme.
  • Half price gym memberships through the healthcare provider.
  • Free eye test.
  • Travel loan.
  • Hastee app, to help manage your salary and finances.

Diversity, Inclusion, And Equal Opportunities

We aim to be an equal opportunities employer and are determined to ensure that no applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of gender, age, disability, religion, belief, sexual orientation, marital status, or race, or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements which cannot be shown to be justifiable. We aim to create a working environment free of bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination, promoting dignity and respect for all, and where individual differences and the contributions of all staff are recognised and valued. This commitment includes training managers and all other employees about their rights and responsibilities under the equality, diversity, and inclusion policy. Responsibilities include staff conducting themselves to help the organisation provide equal opportunities in employment, and prevent bullying, harassment, victimisation, and unlawful discrimination. Vorboss promotes step‑free access at our main headquarters, whilst taking into consideration physical barriers employees might face across all other sites.
