Vorboss is looking for a driven and proactive Civils Operative to join our in‑house Civils team in a permanent position. The Civils Operative will perform excavations, duct laying, duct repair and chamber construction and general street works within the Vorboss network, adhering to guidelines, procedures and high health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of colleagues and the public is at the centre of everything you and the team do.
- Site setup including signage, lighting and guarding.
- Clear blockages in existing duct infrastructure.
- Trench and lay new duct.
- Excavate and install new telecom chambers.
- General groundworks and assist with reinstatements as required.
- Assist with other street works activities including testing, rodding and roping, subduct installs, and civils avoidance.
- Commit to health and safety, and comply with internal policies, procedures and applicable regulations (NRSWA).
- Communicate status of ongoing projects to the Civils Supervisor and office team.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driver’s licence.
- Previous experience working on a civils team or in groundworks on and around utilities, familiarity with tools and equipment required for such works.
Desirable
- Relevant NRSWA certifications.
- Any PIA qualifications (Duct Blockages, Duct Laying, Box Building, General Operatives 1 and 2).
- Experience in the telecommunications industry.
- Reinstatement experience.
- Experience working on deep excavations.
- Excellent communication skills.
