You will be joining one of our Live Studios, working on Hole.io, one of Voodoo's top games.
Role: We're looking for a talented Senior Level Designer to be a hands-on level designer for our mobile casual game Hole.io, and also to eventually supervise and mentor a team of level designers. You will work with and define our custom-level editor in Unity to create fun and engaging levels. You'll be:
- Collaborating with our creative team to plan a level progression and difficulty curve aligned with both the player and business needs.
- Using Unity and proprietary tools for hands-on designing of innovative and varied 3D levels that appeal to a global audience and showcase our unique gameplay & art style.
- Contributing to the Level Design team and Levels Pod by designing, iterating, and improving gameplay experiences, helping plan and prioritize level design tasks, maintaining high-quality standards, and providing mentorship and guidance to fellow level designers when needed.
- Defining level design guidelines tailored to the needs of our game and audience, in order to deliver content that offers a seamless, engaging gameplay experience with the highest quality in the most efficient way possible.
- Defining and iterating the specs of Level Design tools that improve the level design workflow and/or quality.
- Keeping up-to-date documentation of all levels, level progressions and ongoing level-related AB tests.
- Contributing actively with ideas for new game mechanics, level assets and level themes to ensure continuity, cohesion and gameplay variety and deliver an ongoing assortment of immersive environments, interactive elements, and challenging obstacles.
- Working closely with our team of artists, animators, and programmers to ensure level designs are fully realized.
- Testing and balancing levels and level progressions, taking into account player feedback and data to ensure they are fun, fair, and in line with our high-quality standards.
- Ensuring your designs adhere to technical constraints and opportunities presented by our game engine.
- Helping establish and integrate an AI-driven pipeline to successfully scale level production and streamline content generation workflows.
Profile: At least 4+ years of proven experience in Level Design for 3D games, with a portfolio demonstrating your ability to create engaging, fun levels. Intermediate or higher Unity knowledge. Strong understanding of game design principles, particularly within the casual genre. Experience, or a genuine interest, in leading and mentoring a team from the ground up. Experience in continuous, data-driven level balancing and tweaking. Excellent problem-solving skills, with a creative approach to design challenges. Strong communication skills, able to work effectively within a team and explain your ideas clearly.
Nice to have: Experience designing open-world, outdoors 3D environments. Experience leading and mentoring a small team of Level Designers. A degree in game design, computer science, or a related field would be beneficial.
