Overview

We are seeking an experienced Data Architect / Data Modelling Consultant with a strong banking and investment management background to lead the design of target-state reporting and analytics data models within a modern cloud-based data platform.

The successful candidate will work closely with business and technology stakeholders to understand reporting and analytical requirements, analyse existing data structures, define target-state data models and establish best-practice approaches for data consumption across regulatory reporting, management information, analytics and business intelligence.

Working as part of an Agile delivery team, you will contribute incrementally to the target-state data model as solutions are developed and deployed, rather than undertaking a standalone discovery or design phase.

This is primarily a data modelling and consulting-focused role rather than a platform or infrastructure architecture position.

  • Design dimensional, analytical and reporting data models using industry best practices.
  • Define and optimise data structures for reporting, business intelligence and analytics.
  • Work closely with business and technology stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable data solutions.
  • Establish data modelling standards, governance and architectural principles.
  • Support the design of medallion/layered data architectures and data consumption patterns.
  • Ensure data quality, lineage, governance and regulatory reporting requirements are considered.
  • Provide architectural leadership and consultancy to delivery teams and stakeholders.
  • Translate complex business and reporting requirements into logical and physical data models.
  • Work as an active member of Agile sprint teams, delivering incremental data modelling changes aligned to sprint objectives.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Strong commercial experience as a Data Architect, Information Architect or Data Modelling Consultant.
  • Significant experience within banking, wealth management, investment management or other financial services environments.
  • Expert-level dimensional modelling skills, including Kimball methodologies.
  • Experience designing reporting, analytics and business intelligence data models.
  • Strong understanding of medallion, layered and modern analytical data architecture approaches.
  • Experience defining target-state data models from complex existing source systems.
  • Strong SQL skills and ability to analyse complex datasets.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, consulting and communication skills.
  • Good understanding of data governance, lineage, quality and regulatory reporting requirements.
