The FISCUS Centre for Warmth (CFW) delivers energy saving advice, welfare benefits advice and crisis support across Sunderland. Funded by Northern Gas Networks, the service supports vulnerable individuals and families, particularly those experiencing fuel poverty, hardship and crisis. Based in Sunderland, FISCUS is an independent charity established in 2005 and provides advice, crisis support and wider community activities.
Role Purpose
- To provide energy saving advice and access to crisis services to reduce fuel poverty.
- Ensure high-quality support to vulnerable individuals and communities from the target groups.
- Develop and deliver energy saving engagement activities and events at FISCUS and with our community partners.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with other community organisations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver energy saving engagement events and sessions at FISCUS and other community and local venues.
- Provide energy saving advice including advice on switching tariffs or energy suppliers.
- Based at FISCUS community premises, the Coop Centre, outreach from community partner venues, deliver energy saving home visits and provide one-to-one appointments and drop-ins.
- Develop and deliver community engagement activities among our target groups and wider communities.
- Issue fuel vouchers, warm packs, food parcels and crisis support.
- Promote Carbon Monoxide awareness raising activities and distribution of CO alarms.
- Promote and support registrations to the Priority Services Register (PSR).
- Monitor own performance, outputs and ensure reporting requirements are met.
- Support publicity materials and social media advertising.
Role Details
- Location: Coop Centre, Hendon, Sunderland and wider Sunderland.
- Hours: 28 hours per week (Days/hours negotiable, occasional evenings/weekends).
- Salary: £27,000 per annum FTE (£21,600 actual salary pro-rata for 28 hours).
- 6% Employers Contributory Pension.
- Reporting to: Energy Advice Coordinator & CEO.
