Carers Federation, Caregivers Connected Service is seeking an experienced Young Carers Activity Worker to lead the Young Carer and Young Adult Carer element of the service in Gateshead.
Role Information
- Role Type: Employment
- Hours: 16hrs per week (including Saturday)
- Base: Aidan House, 401 Sunderland Road, Gateshead NE8 3HU
- Salary: Band 1a Standard with actual salary Β£10,162 per annum
- Reference: YC/GHCS
- Accountable to: Carers Federation, Caregiver Connected Service Manager
Responsibilities
- Lead on the Young Carer and Young Adult Carer element of the service.
- Manage dayβtoβday line management and organization of the Young Carers team to ensure service delivery to the highest standards.
- Work alongside Service Manager and Team Leader. Coordinate activities and ensure smooth transition into wider Adult Caregiver services.
- Identify and engage young carers and young adult caregivers within the Gateshead community.
- Provide appropriate training and support to the team, ensuring compliance with Gateshead Safeguarding policies and Carers Federation procedures.
- Travel throughout Gateshead, transporting young carers to and from activities and meeting sessions when required.
- Support activities outside normal office hours and commit to regular sessional work.
Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience of working with children & young people
- Proven experience of delivering and engaging in activities
- A good understanding of children & adults safeguarding
- Knowledge of risk assessments
- Knowledge of Gateshead geographical areas
- Friendly approach and willingness to get involved with activities
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to adapt to individual needs
- Ability to work as a team
- Reliable and flexible
- Ability to record accurate information on databases
- Ability to use a variety of IT systems
- Must hold a valid driving licence and be a car user
