WWIN is a specialist domestic abuse service, providing accommodation and community-based services aimed at supporting women and children at risk of, or experiencing, violence and abuse across Wearside.
Our Outreach, Advocacy and Support Service is made up of IDVAs, caseworkers, and specialist staff supporting women and children within our safe and supported accommodation provision.
We work closely with partner agencies to ensure that victims and survivors of domestic abuse receive a high-quality standard of support and advocacy.
Our expert team provides helpline support and specialist advocacy services, including dedicated IDVAs for women experiencing multiple disadvantages and young women.
We also provide one-to-one and group counselling for survivors, as well as short-term support for family members and friends affected by domestic abuse.
We are an inclusive service and support people of all ages, disabilities, sexual orientations, ethnicities and religions.
Who We Are Looking For
We are currently recruiting for a qualified Independent Domestic Abuse Advisor (IDVA) to join our Outreach, Assessment and Safe Accommodation teams.
We are looking for passionate, skilled individuals who are committed to supporting survivors of domestic abuse and making a real difference in their lives.

The successful candidate will provide a proactive and empowering approach to promoting the safety, health and wellbeing of victims and survivors of domestic abuse across WWIN's services.
This involves undertaking holistic assessments of survivors' needs and risks, whilst considering the support requirements of their wider family within both community settings and WWIN's specialist accommodation services.
Main Duties of the Role
- Risk Assessment and Safety Planning
- Complete risk assessments using recognised tools (e. g. DASH).
- Develop and regularly review safety plans tailored to each client.
- Support clients in crisis and respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns.
- Casework and Advocacy
- Provide practical and emotional support to victims and survivors of domestic abuse.

- Courts and legal services
- Support clients through criminal and civil court processes where required.
- Multi-Agency Working
- Prepare and present cases at MARAC meetings.
- Work collaboratively with partner agencies to reduce risk.
- Maintain strong professional relationships across services.
- Safeguarding
- Follow safeguarding procedures for adults and children.
- Make referrals to statutory services where necessary.
- Maintain accurate and confidential case records.
- Administration and Monitoring
- Keep detailed case notes and outcome data.
- Contribute to service monitoring and reporting requirements.
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and organisational policies.
Essential
Qualifications and Experience Required
- A recognised IDVA qualification.
- Experience supporting individuals within a domestic abuse setting.
- Strong understanding of domestic abuse and its impact on adults and children.
- Ability to conduct risk assessments and manage complex cases.
- Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage a caseload effectively.
- Experience of effective partnership and multi-agency working.
Desirable
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Experience supporting individuals from minoritised communities and an understanding of intersectionality within domestic abuse services.
Salary And Benefits
- An annual salary of £30,024 per annum for a qualified IDVA (pro rata for part-time hours).
- 32 days annual leave (pro rata), including statutory holidays, increasing by one day for each completed year of service up to 37 days, including statutory holidays.
