About the Role
As a Network Engineer, you will manage and deploy our FWA and FTTP Networks. This role is vital in providing a high quality service to our customers.
Responsibilities
- Supporting in the commissioning, deployment and management of our Hybrid Networks
- Working with field engineers on issues found onsite and providing remote support
- 3rd Party Contractor Support
- Creating/updating high quality Network documentation from new and existing Networks
- Handling Network issues within the Network Operations Team and across the Network Estate
- Working with our monitoring platforms to pick up and fix issues before they become customer impacting
- Continually improve and develop Network processes, making them more efficient
- Able to monitor and find faults in a logical way
- Prioritise and manage multiple items that may conflict with one another
- Take the lead on small projects with supervision from line manager
- Act as an escalation path for the Junior Network Engineers
Qualifications
- Telecommunication degree (desirable)
- At least two years within a similar role
Technical Knowledge & Experience
- Good understanding of L2/L3 networking, PON Networks and experience working with Broadband Networks in either FWA or FTTP
- Experience with Network Monitoring platforms, such as LibreNMS, PRTG, Nagios, etc.
- Working experience of VLAN's, PPPoE, Tunnelling
- Knowledge of routing protocols, and practical application
- Knowledge of wireless bands and channels including licensed links
- Knowledge of radio management platform like UISP, UNMS, cnMaestro
- Hands-on experience with monitoring, Network diagnostic and Network analytics tools
- Proven hands-on Network Engineering experience
- Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model
- FWA multivendor knowledge like Ubiquiti, Mikrotik, Zyxel, Radwin, Siklu, Cambium
Desirable skills
- Salesforce CRM
- Working knowledge of layer 3 routing (OSPF/BGP)
- Knowledge of wireless planning tools like WISDM
- Experience of PON networks and associated networking tools
- Linux shell / Mikrotik CLI
