We Are Looking For Someone Who Has:
- Prior work experience in an IT‑related role would be advantageous.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft 365 (advanced Excel skills are a bonus).
- Basic understanding of computer hardware, operating systems and common software applications.
- Familiarity with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP and wireless technologies.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data security.
- Effective communication and organisation skills.
- A full UK driving licence and the ability to travel frequently.
- GCSE or A‑Level qualifications (those who already hold a degree in IT will not be eligible for this apprenticeship).
You will be joining a close‑knit IT Infrastructure team of four who support 18 sites across the South and East. You will be working with colleagues who have completed IT apprenticeships at Volvo Trucks and will guide and mentor you as you develop your skills. You will report to the IT Manager and be part of the wider Volvo Trucks IT division in the UK.
What You’ll Do:
As an IT Infrastructure Apprentice, you will support and deliver IT infrastructure services across multiple Volvo Truck & Bus locations. From setting up new systems to helping solve technical issues, you will be part of the team that keeps our operations running smoothly.
You Will Gain Hands‑on Experience With:
- Responding to user enquiries and providing technical assistance, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, both in person and remotely.
- Assisting in the installation and configuration of computer hardware, software, and networking equipment under the guidance of senior technicians.
- Collaborating with the IT team to develop and maintain documentation, including system configurations, user manuals and troubleshooting guides.
- Supporting key IT projects such as Windows 11 migration and Wi‑Fi upgrades across 18 sites.
- Staying updated with emerging technologies and industry trends to provide recommendations for improving IT infrastructure efficiency and effectiveness.
- Managing technical administration and authorisation for new starters and leavers in a timely manner for all local and group IT systems.
