Technician (VAS/Field Service) – Ipswich
We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled and motivated Field Service/VAS Technician to join our team in Ipswich. This role offers up to £20.50 per hour with options to earn on VAS call outs, plus a £1,000 joining bonus payable after 6 months\’ service. The role rotates weekly with hours 08:00-16:30, Monday to Friday. Week 1 – Field Service; Week 2 – VAS/on site.
VAS payments
- £155 standby payment when on rota (extra for bank holidays)
- £60 for each call out (between 22:00 Fri to 06:00 Mon) and £30 for all other times when not on shift
- Overtime paid in line with your terms and conditions when outside working hours

What You Will Do
- Carry out inspections, diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on Volvo trucks and related equipment
- Provide on-site technical support and breakdown assistance to customers
- Deliver high standards of customer service and build positive relationships with clients
- Accurately complete job cards, reports, and other paperwork
- Keep up to date with Volvo product training and technical developments
- Work as part of a skilled, customer-focused team
- Field Service will carry out repairs on customer sites as required
- Attend/work within site workshops when not required on customer sites

Who You Are
- You’ll hold a City and Guilds, an NVQ3 or an equivalent qualification; apprenticeship in the HGV industry or equivalent experience, with relevant experience in the commercial vehicle industry
- Basic knowledge of Word, Excel and Outlook; computer literacy
- Basic working knowledge of vehicle technology
- HGV Class 1 or 2 / PSV license would be ideal but not essential
