Location: Field-based (Inverness & surrounding areas)

Hours: Full time - Day shift but with flexibility according to customer needs

As a Field Bus Technician, you will provide expert diagnostic, maintenance, and repair support for Volvo buses and coaches at customer premises and roadside locations. You will play a key role in minimising vehicle downtime, delivering first‑time fixes, and ensuring customers receive industry‑leading service and support.

What You Will Do

  • Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, inspections, and repairs on Volvo buses and coaches.
  • Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic faults using Volvo diagnostic systems.
  • Attend roadside breakdowns and emergency call‑outs, delivering effective repairs to return vehicles to service quickly.
  • Complete vehicle health checks and identify additional repair opportunities.
  • Ensure all work is completed to Volvo Trucks and Volvo Bus manufacturer standards.
  • Accurately record work completed, parts used, and diagnostic findings through company systems.
  • Maintain service vans, tools, and equipment to a high standard.
  • Liaise professionally with customers, keeping them informed of vehicle status and repair progress.
  • Support depot technicians and provide technical assistance when required.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

Skills & Experience

  • Qualified HGV, PSV, Bus, Coach, or Commercial Vehicle Technician (Level 3 or equivalent).
  • Strong experience in fault finding and diagnostics.
  • Knowledge of modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
  • Experience using manufacturer diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to work independently in a field‑based environment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Full UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential).
  • Flexible approach to working hours and on‑call requirements.
