The predicted salary is between 52000 - 78000 £ per year.

HGV Technician to work on our Volvo Action Service - London Heathrow.

Average earnings £65k to £75k with a £1,000 JOINING BONUS (direct applicants payable after 6 months service).

Up to £21 per hour with options to earn on VAS call outs:

  • £120 standby payment when on rota (extra for bank holidays)
  • £60 for each call out (between 22:00 Fri to 06:00 Mon) and £30 for all other times when not on shift

Overtime paid in line with your terms and conditions when outside working hours. Company van provided when on call out.

Working a rotating shift; Monday to Friday:

  • Rotating shift: 0600hrs to 1430hrs / 1430hrs to 2300hrs
  • Optional Saturdays at overtime rate 0700hrs to 1300hrs (overtime at time and a half - up to £31.50 per hour)

Who are you?

You’ll hold a City and Guilds, an NVQ3 or an equivalent qualification. You’ll also have completed an apprenticeship in the HGV industry, or have equivalent experience, along with relevant experience in the commercial vehicle industry. A basic knowledge of computer software packages including Word, Excel and Outlook is preferred, as is a general level of computer literacy. Finally, we’d expect you to have a basic working knowledge of vehicle technology. HGV Class 1 or 2/PSV Licence would be ideal but not essential.

What Will You Do:

  • Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures, safely and responsibly
  • Ensure repairs are carried out in accordance with Volvo Standard Times using Volvo Special Tools where appropriate
  • Assist in the fault diagnosis process
  • Comply with warranty procedures during repairs and warranty material on completion of each repair
  • Work with the Parts Team to ensure the correct replacement parts are fitted
  • Road test vehicles when required (if you hold an HGV licence)
  • Assist with roadside breakdowns
  • Ensure company time recording procedures are complied with, and that job cards are completed accurately
  • Ensure service sheets are completed as per Volvo instructions
  • Ensure all vehicle defects are reported to workshop controllers
  • Keep all workshop facilities, equipment and tools clean, tidy and well maintained
  • Wear personal protective equipment when appropriate
  • Support the development of young trainees and apprentices
