Overview
Volvo Trucks Reading is hiring an experienced HGV Technician to join a global leader in truck innovation. The role covers a rotating shift: Monday to Friday, 0600hrs to 1430hrs or 1430hrs to 2300hrs, with overtime on Saturdays (time and a half). A £2,000 signing bonus is available for direct candidates, and salary is up to £22 per hour dependent on skill set and experience.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Ensure repairs are carried out according to manufacturer’s procedures, safely and responsibly
- Perform repairs in accordance with Volvo Standard Times using Volvo Special Tools where appropriate
- Assist in fault diagnosis
- Comply with warranty procedures and complete warranty material on completion of each repair
- Work with the Parts Team to ensure correct replacement parts are fitted
- Road test vehicles when required (if you hold an HGV licence)
- Assist with roadside breakdowns
- Complete time recording procedures and accurate job cards
- Complete service sheets as per Volvo instructions
- Report all vehicle defects to workshop controllers
- Keep workshop facilities, equipment and tools clean, tidy and well maintained
- Wear personal protective equipment when appropriate
- Support the development of young trainees and apprentices
Who Are You
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
- Previous experience as an HGV Technician (Volvo experience is a plus but not essential)
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Proactive attitude with a focus on customer service and safety
- Full UK driving licence (HGV licence preferred but not essential)
