As a Marine Application Engineer, you will provide technical application support across the Volvo Penta marine engine range. You will work closely with OEMs, boat builders, dealerships and end users to support installations from initial design and specification through to commissioning and sea trials. This is a practical, customer facing role focused on ensuring our products are installed, tested and performing as intended in real-world applications.
Responsibilities
- Providing expert technical support and guidance to customers, OEMs and boat builders
- Commissioning marine engines and accessories and ensuring installations meet global standards
- Supporting sales teams with application engineering and installation approval activities
- Organising and participating in sea trials and producing detailed installation reports
- Visiting customers/ OEMs to advise on design specifications and technical solutions
- Supporting new projects and RFQs from early concept through build and evaluation
- Delivering training and technical support to OEM engineering teams and dealer networks
- Representing Volvo Penta at shows, exhibitions and industry events
What you will bring (Qualifications)
- A degree in Naval Architecture or Engineering
- A strong understanding of marine applications and installation principles
- Knowledge of modern diesel engines, electric drive systems, control systems or electronics is highly valued
- The ability to explain technical problems and solutions clearly to non-technical stakeholders
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to work with customers, sales teams and engineers at every level
- A proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and take ownership
You will report directly to the Head of Marine UK and work closely with Technical Sales and Application Engineers, the Area Sales Manager, the wider Volvo Penta Sales Support team, and global colleagues in Gothenburg, ensuring a joined-up approach to customer and OEM support.
