As Technician Supervisor, you'll play a key role in leading our team of HGV technicians, ensuring all work is carried out efficiently, safely, and to Volvo's high standards. You'll act as a hands‑on leader, supporting technicians on the shop floor while coordinating workloads, maintaining quality control, and liaising with the Service Manager to meet operational targets.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and work closely with a team of technicians to maintain high morale and ensure work is completed on time and with excellence in quality.
- Manage customer expectations by working through each stage of the Genuine Volvo Service process.
- Maximise shift performance through effective problem solving, coaching, and development.
- Communicate effectively with the Day Shift Supervisor, CSRs, and Parts department to ensure technicians have valid job specifications and time budget prior to commencing work.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Supervisor or Team Leader in HGV maintenance.
- Qualified to NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
- Workshop experience – ideally with trucks or buses and supervisory know‑how.
- Full UK driving licence (HGV licence is a bonus).
- Ability to manage and motivate a team of technicians in their daily duties.
- Capability to coach and provide support and guidance to technicians.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritise tasks, manage workflow, and meet deadlines in a busy workshop.
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and IT skills.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary up to £21.50 per hour, dependent upon experience and skill set.
- £2,000 signing bonus (direct applicants only, payable after 6 months).
- Overtime at time and a half; double time on Sundays and bank holidays.
- £120 per week call‑out applicable when on standby.
- Rotating shift pattern: Monday‑Friday 0700‑1500 / 1500‑2300; alternative Saturdays 0800‑1200 (overtime time and a half).
- 25 days holiday (increases to 30 days with service) + bank holidays.
