As a Field Bus Technician, you will provide expert diagnostic, maintenance, and repair support for Volvo buses and coaches at customer premises and roadside locations. You will play a key role in minimising vehicle downtime, delivering first-time fixes, and ensuring customers receive industry-leading service and support.
What you will do:
- Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, inspections, and repairs on Volvo buses and coaches.
- Diagnose and rectify mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic faults using Volvo diagnostic systems.
- Attend roadside breakdowns and emergency call-outs, delivering effective repairs to return vehicles to service quickly.
- Complete vehicle health checks and identify additional repair opportunities.
- Ensure all work is completed to Volvo Trucks and Volvo Bus manufacturer standards.
- Accurately record work completed, parts used, and diagnostic findings through company systems.
- Maintain service vans, tools, and equipment to a high standard.
- Liaise professionally with customers, keeping them informed of vehicle status and repair progress.
- Support depot technicians and provide technical assistance when required.
- Comply with all Health & Safety, environmental, and quality procedures.

Skills & experience:
- Qualified HGV, PSV, Bus, Coach, or Commercial Vehicle Technician (Level 3 or equivalent).
- Strong experience in fault finding and diagnostics.
- Knowledge of modern vehicle electrical and electronic systems.
- Experience using manufacturer diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Full UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable but not essential).
- Flexible approach to working hours and on-call requirements.
This role is ideal for experienced HGV, PSV, Bus, Coach, Plant, Agricultural, or Commercial Vehicle Technicians who enjoy working independently, solving complex technical issues, and building strong customer relationships.
